Welcome to the Swedish-British Society's
90th ANNIVERSARY St. ANDREW'S BALL
on Saturday 28th November, at 17.30
at Operaterrassen, Karl XII:s Torg, Stockholm
The ball will be held in the presence of Princess Christina, Fru Magnuson and Consul General Tord Magnuson, Guests of Honour. It is a pleasure to welcome Sir Richard Gardner FRS our Guest Speaker, as well as Katarina Karnéus, the celebrated mezzo soprano, who will be giving a performance during the evening. The evening commences with a welcome drink during the assembly before dinner.

Fillet of venison with caramelized blueberry sauce, pears fried in Calvados, salsify with chilli and pommes Williams

The programme comprises a performance by Katarina Karnéus accompanied by the pianist Bénédicte Haid. There will be piping by the Pipe Major of the Pipe and Drums of the First Royal Engineers, Robert Wallgren and a Scottish dance performance by Members of the Stockholm Scottish Country Dance Society led by Don Gillam. Several attractive prizes have been donated to the traditional lottery. Raffle tickets will be sold during the assembly. Modern dancing will take place to Leif Kronlund's popular orchestra and Scottish dancing to the skirl of the bag pipes. The price for members is 1.095:- and for non-members 1.150:- (payment to p-giro 3424-9). Members of other English speaking organizations are welcome at members' price. One of Charles Dicken's most popular stories is back on stage with British actors. SOFT PERSIAN CARPETS AND SOFT SELL
on Tuesday 1st December from 18.00 for 18.30
at AK:s Inredning Antikt & Klassiskt Shop, Hornsgatan 94, Stockholm
The evening starts with a glass of wine, follwed by a description of the evening buffet meal, which is included in the price. The setting is simple, the plates disposable but the food is delicious. Your ticket may even lead to a "free" rug. By "free" we mean at no extra cost.
After the lecture "What to look for when thinking of buying a Persian Carpet" Kina Jacobsson's strong helping hands will show us a wide selection of carpets and, of course, you do have the option to buy or not to buy.
These popular "to eat, to drink, perchance to buy" evenings are usually held in Swedish, but, with the help of our Swedish speaking members, Kina Jacobsson has agreed to use English. The total cost person is 100:- (food, wine + lottery). Sign up by paying 100:- into the ESCC's pg-account 12 30 45-7, state "Persian carpet event" and after your name indicate "Swedish- British Society" in the message field. will be held on Saturday 5th December between 11.00 and 15.00
at the Princess Hall, Dag Hammarskjölds väg 14, Stockholm. There will be the traditional lottery, gifts, cakes & bread, books, children's activities, café, UNICEF Christmas cards etc.

A CAROL SERVICE AT THE ENGLISH CHURCH
on Wednesday 16th December at 18.30 - 20.00
at the Church of St. Peter and St. Sigfrid, Dag Hammarskjölds väg 14, Stockholm
Come and be part of the special Carol Service held for members of the Swedish-British Society and British and Commonwealth Association. Hear again the old story of the shepherds and angels, the wise men and Herod, Mary and Joseph and the baby in the manger. Refreshments will be served in the church after the service. A nominal fee will be charged to cover the costs.
